Eye Care

EYE CARE

Dip wads of cotton in a chilled mixture of cucumber and potato juice. Keep this on your eyelids for 15 to 20 minutes and gently wash it off. Apply a little baby oil.

For long eyelashes..,  apply a thin coat of castor oil every night. It strengthens lashes and cools your eyes.

Massage a few drops of coconut oil around the eyes to get rid off dark circles.

To reduce puffiness of your eyes, grate a potato; tie in a cloth and place the cloth over your eyes for about 15 minutes.

Add a small pinch of salt in  water and wash for bright and sparkling eyes.

Mix tomato juice and lemon juice in equal quantity and apply around the eyes. After 30 minutes wash it off with cold and hot water alternatively.

Make a paste of sandal wood and nutmeg. Apply the paste around the eyes before sleeping and wash it off in the morning.

Crush a cucumber and take the juice. Add a little rose water and apply around the eyes and wash it after 30 minutes.

Place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold milk on closed eyes for removing dark circles.

 Eye-shadow

Apply a colorful eye-shadow all over the eyelid area. Don't extend outside the natural shape and don't take it above the eye crease

Next, highlight the brow area with white eye-shadow.

Contour the eye by applying brown or grey right at the socket line. Next comes the eyeliner, which should be a very thin line drawn close to the lashes. After that comes the mascara Eye-shadow should be skipped by those who have naturally shadowed lids, darkly circled eyes, or wrinkled eye area.

Problem Eyes

Small Eyes, Eyebrows Thin - Pastel or white shadow all over from eyebrow to eyelid and a smudge of brown in the socket.

Prominent Eyes - Deep dramatic eye shadow to minimize the size of lid. Don't highlight brow, 1/8th inch thick eyeliner extended into inner and outer corners. Make a definite socket line to make the eye more deep set

Almond Shape - Pale shadow all over the end and smudge faint brown shadow in the socket. Fine eyeliner all round the eye.

Deep-set Eyes - No socket line. Pastel colors from eyelid and to brow bone. No dark shadow.

 Eyeliner

  • When using an eye pencil, open your mouth slightly to relax the eye muscles. It will make lining a lot easier without having to pull or tug at your lid.
  • Apply eyeliner as close as possible and even into the lashes to avoid the white line you sometimes get when liner and lashes don’t connect.
  • DO NOT put on mounds of eyeliner because you will look like a raccoon about three hours later.

 Tips

  • It's more important to do the exercises regularly than to do them for a long time. Even 30-60 seconds of eye movement every hour is very helpful. For example, when your computer takes its sweet time to do something, most people just swear at the poor thing and waste the time, but you can make a few circles with your eyes. Even the first day you do this, you should notice that, when you finish working, your eyes aren't as tired as usual.
  • Taking short breaks from near work (e.g. staring at a computer monitor) to stare out to the distance also relieves some strain.
  • Palming is a good method to help your eyes feel better. You close your eyes and put you palms over them, this will rest your eyes.
  • Blink the eyes many times.
  • Splash your eyes with cold water repeatedly when feasible, and especially when your eyes are strained.

 Warnings

  • Consult your optometrist (eye doctor) before doing any of these exercises. The last thing you want to do is add further strain to your eyes, or damage them permanently.
  • When doing these exercises, make sure that you're not facing anybody, or that they know you're doing eye exercises. Otherwise they might think you've gone nuts.
  • Extensive peer reviewed research has shown that visual clarity is not improved by exercise. Some people have weakness in the ability to turn their eye in or out. You may have esotropia (eye naturally turned in) or exotropia (eye naturally turned out). Exercise may help these conditions.
  • Doing these exercises when you wear contacts may cause them to suction to your eyeball. They might also move around and possibly become folded and/or dislodged, which can be extremely uncomfortable as well.
  • Do not apply pressure on your eyes.
  • Wash your hands before doing these exercises to avoid getting irritants in your eye.

Dark Circles Under Eyes...

Basic Eyes Problems

Dark circles Dark circles under the eyes are common but usually not permanent. They're often due to temporary changes in the blood vessels under the eyes.

Diet for eyes:

The most important component for good eyes and vision is vitamin A. you can have cod liver oil and fish. Yellow fruits and vegetables are good source of vitamin A. Egg yolk and butter are also rich in vitamin A green leafy vegetables should be taken more .

Shadow Eyes

  • On days when you are really pressed for time, apply the base color to the eye then skip to mascara and you’re done.
  • When applying eye shadow to the crease of the eye, keep your eyes open and slightly tilt your head backward. This will enable you to better see the shape you are creating and allowing the shadow to go into the crease.
  • For more mature skin use iridescent shades sparingly.
  • If you have puffy eyelids do not use iridescent or frosted shadows in light colors or white. Use softer, matte colors.

Eyebrows

  • Always use a brow color that is as natural looking as possible. The main objective is to define not create over-powering brows. To fill in, comb first, then use feather like strokes with your pencil to fill in. To create a more natural look, comb again after applying the pencil.
  • When using a brow definer or brush on brow, the same method is used. Comb, apply with a brush and then comb again
  • When using powdered brow color, use a harder bristled angle brow brush and draw tiny hair-like strokes. When using a brow pencil, maintain a sharp edge and use the same technique as the brush. You may use a disposable mascara wand to soften. The trick is comb, apply, comb.
  • If your brows are low or close to the eyes, bleaching them can “open up” the face. This is a practice .
